Los
Californianos Meetings
Meetings are held quarterly in January, April, July, and October at
historic areas throughout California. These are usually scheduled for
the weekend of the fourth Sunday of the month. There is a $6 registration fee to
participate in any of the Friday through Sunday activities. At each
meeting, the
Thomas W. Temple, II mission records abstracts, the
Mutnick
genealogical charts, the
Vincent Gallagher family group sheets,
various
Californio family histories and
genealogical charts, among other materials, are available for genealogical and historical
research at no charge for members. There is a nominal charge of $5 a
weekend for nonmembers to use this “traveling library,” which is
payable in the library room.
The quarterly meetings also provide an opportunity for members,
prospective members, and guests to socialize at the Friday afternoon and
evening
Hospitality Room.
Californio music and, often,
Californio dances and period
attire,
are a part of this festive occasion. Other weekend activities are
guided
tours to local historic sites such as adobes and missions and
field trips to
other local
points of interest. The Saturday evening dinner and Sunday morning
brunch include
entertaining programs of cultural and historical interest and
further opportunities to meet and visit with primos ("cousins") and
friends.
